Airport Railroad Express (AREX) Guide: All-Stop Train vs. Express Train

Planning a trip to South Korea via Incheon International Airport? Taking the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) is one of the fastest and most convenient ways to travel between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport.

Depending on your travel style and budget, you can choose between the  All-Stop Train (Local Service) and the Express Train (Non-stop Service). Here is everything you need to know before you ride!

An illustrative hand-drawn diagram showing the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) route from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport. It clearly labels all key stations, including Seoul Stn., Gimpo Int'l Airport, and the Terminal 1 and 2 stops. Small icons depict major landmarks, transfer lines (e.g., KTX, subway lines 1, 4, 5, 9), landmarks near each station, and the locations of Airport Cargo Terminal. A separate 'Transfer Line Keys' legend box confirms the color codes for connecting rail lines.

**    How to Take the All-Stop Train from Incheon Airport
        T1 to Seoul Station
  • Follow the blue "Airport Railroad" signs upon arriving at Incheon Airport Terminal 1. Both the All-Stop Train and Express Train share this direction and depart from the B1 level. Simply take the escalator down as indicated by the arrow.

This image displays the main terminal of Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, specifically near the arrivals area. We see a set of large, blue overhead signs providing directions. One sign points upwards to the 'Maglev Line,' and more importantly, another blue sign with a large arrow pointing downwards guides travelers to the 'Airport Railroad'. An escalator is visible, and following the sign’s downward arrow, you would take this escalator to reach the train station. Both the All-Stop Train and the Express Train share this initial path, guided by the blue "Airport Railroad" signs. Remember that both train services depart from the B1 level, which you reach by following this route. Additional signs on the right point upwards to the Departures area (3F) and Airline Offices (2F). Smaller thumbnail images below show other perspectives, one of a blue sign with a train icon and the text '곡항철도' (Airport Railroad), and another of a split sign for 'Airport Railroad All Stop' (blue) and 'Airport Railroad Express' (orange) on a pillar.
